Originally from the good ol’ midwest, Mariah graduated from Gonzaga University in 2019 where she got her Bachelors in Entrepreneurship and Marketing with a minor in Ceramics. Currently, she is pursuing a Certificate in Interior Design from RISD.
Mariah finds herself most inspired by liminal spaces and nuance. Playing within the space of duality allows her to make sense of the world, operating with colliding concepts like strength and fragility, isolation and connection, femininity and masculinity, and more. Working within several mediums, Mariah values the exchange between process and time.
Mariah works as a studio assistant to Architect, Rachel Shillander, helping to fabricate pieces that explore the relationships between time, space, scale, and material. Check out the Disco Ball chair here.
In addition, Mariah also freelances as a creative strategist, working both with brands and agencies to develop culturally resonate campaigns. These projects are often fun and a bit quirky, like launching Barbie’s TikTok, or art directing a hair oil brand.
Previously, Mariah worked at Vice Media Group’s internal advertising agency helping brands engage with culture in an honest way. (Beats by Dre, P&G, Cholula, Cazadores Tequila, etc).
